Duwamish Series

The Duwamish River is Seattle’s only river and has a complicated history of indigenous settlement and displacement, industrial pollution and economic growth. This ongoing series explores that history, often using historic maps of the River before its transformation into the current industrial waterway.

Urbanism

The built environment is a common theme in my work. Street grids, structures, and the impact of time all make an appearance.

East of the Mountains

Eastern Washington, east of the Cascade Mountains, is an entirely different place from the lush Puget Sound basin where Seattle is located. The environment is high desert and geologic sculpture, where water is precious and essential for the agricultural economy. Crop circles, irrigation canals, sage, basalt cliffs and open skies are all part of the landscape.
